Forcible Checks: Qatar is in trouble as international condemnations keep pouring-in

Image
International condemnations poured in over what happened recently at Hamad Airport in the Qatari capital, Doha, of forcible checks against Australian female passengers who were on board a Qatar Airways plane, which prompted the Qatari government liaison office to admit that errors occurred during the aforementioned checks, stressing that initial investigations showed the existence of Violations in the procedures followed during the search and search of a number of female passengers. Qatar apologized for the painful experience that some female travelers endured as a result of these procedures. Despite the Qatari attempts to contain the crisis, international condemnation of the incident continued to expand greatly, after Australia and New Zealand, Britain entered the line, as British diplomats announced, (Friday), that two women from their country had been subjected to a forced examination at Doha Airport, confirming submitting an official complaint. Against Qatar and Qatar A...

Australia Set To Sever Diplomatic Ties Over Qatar 'Forcibly-Examining' Female Travelers

Image
Australia was left in a state of shock over Qatar’s invasive screening of dozens of female travelers, some of whom were Australian nationals, at the Hamad International Airport in Doha. Female passengers from 10 flights were directed to ambulances where they were strip-searched and given invasive medical exams to see if they had recently given birth because a newborn had been found abandoned in a bathroom at the airport. An official at Australia’s foreign affairs department said that Qatar was aware that its behavior is not normal by any standard and that it spurred panic. The official voiced hopes for the incident not to be repeated. Speaking to reporters in Canberra, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the invasive treatment of the women was “unacceptable” and “appalling” and his government would “continue to take a very strident approach” in seeking answers and ensuring it would never be repeated. Foreign Minister Marise Payne reiterated that the Australian Gov...

Wife of jailed royal seeks justice after Qatari regime wrongfully imprisoned her husband

Image
By Mohammed Alsulami Sheikh Talal Al-Thani, a senior member of the Qatari royal family, has been imprisoned in violation of his fundamental rights by Qatari authorities since February 2013. During this period, he has been allowed to see his wife Asma Arian and his four children — currently living in exile in Germany — only twice. Sheikh Talal is the grandson of the late Qatari Emir Sheikh Ahmad bin Ali Al-Thani, whose reign lasted from 1960 to 1972. Sheikh Ahmad was deposed by his cousin Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad, grandfather of Tamim bin Hamad, Qatar’s current emir, and father of former Emir Hamad bin Khalifa. Tensions between family members escalated following the death of one of Qatar’s founders, Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Ahmed, after his exile in Saudi Arabia in 2008. Shortly afterwards, Sheikh Talal’s assets were frozen and the inheritance he was due to receive after his father’s death withheld. Since his arrest, which happened without a court order, Sheikh Talal has be...

OPINION: America Should Not Sell F-35 Fighter Planes to the Qatari Regime

Image
By Ben Weithal Israeli energy minister Yuval Steinitz, speaking to the Ynet website on Sunday, expressed concern that despite Jerusalem's objections, Qatar will eventually acquire state-of-the-art Lockheed Martin F-35 combat aircraft from the U.S. The minister's words reflect Israel's determination to maintain its qualitative military edge over all other Middle Eastern states. The Israeli desire to prevent any regional state from approaching military parity with it holds for friends as well as foes. A heated discussion is currently underway regarding the acquisition by the United Arab Emirates of the F-35 stealth aircraft as part of its normalization deal with Israel. Egypt's efforts to modernize its submarine fleet remain a matter of debate and concern in Israel. Cairo and Jerusalem have been at peace for 40 years. These concerns derive from Israeli awareness of the volatile and dysfunctional nature of Mideast politics. Israeli defense officials point to th...

Image
Nuseir Yassin has perhaps one of the most recognizable faces on Facebook. Over the last few years, his videos have taken social media by storm, racking up millions and millions of views. Also known as Nas, or Nas Daily, his video clips, which are generally one minute long, touch upon a wide array of topics, including travel, food, arts, the environment and racism. His personable style, flashy video effects and youthful energy have enabled Nas to create a massively receptive audience online, with his posts generating huge amounts of likes, shares and comments. But in an uncharacteristic video released on Wednesday, Nas took on Al Jazeera, exposing a campaign to smear him by the news network, which is effectively an extension of the Qatari government. His wrongdoing? Being an Arab who openly promotes peaceful co-existence, including between Jewish Israelis and Palestinians. In the video, Nas shows clips of the Qatari channel spreading the lie that he is “using words such as… ...

PREPOSTEROUS! Qatar Airport Strip Search Draws Shock and Outrage in Australia

Image
The Qatar Airways flight bound for Sydney, Australia, had been mysteriously stalled on the tarmac in Doha for more than three hours when an announcement boomed through the cabin. All female passengers had to take their passports and disembark immediately. They were marched from the plane and directed to ambulances, where, according to Australian officials and accounts from some women, they were strip-searched and given invasive medical exams to see if they had recently given birth because a newborn had been found abandoned in a bathroom at Hamad International Airport. The episode in Doha sent shock waves through Australia, drawing anger and disbelief. It called into question Qatar’s treatment of women and threatened to tarnish diplomatic ties between the two countries. Among the women who told Australian officials she had been examined while transiting through the Qatari capital on Flight QR908 was a 31-year-old Australian nurse who insisted she be identified only by her fi...

Human-rights Violation! Australia demands answers after women taken from Qatar Airways flight and strip-searched

Image
Thirteen Australians reportedly among women taken off flight at Doha and subjected to medical examination after newborn found abandoned in airport The Australian government has registered “serious concerns” with Qatari authorities after women on a flight from Doha to Sydney were ordered to disembark the plane and subjected to a strip search and a medical examination. Flight QR908 to Sydney was due to leave Hamad International airport at Doha at 8.30 on Friday 2 October, but was delayed for four hours, apparently after a newborn infant was found dead in the airport. Among the 34 passengers on board was Dr Wolfgang Babeck, who was returning to Australia after spending a month in Germany with his ailing father. Babeck told Guardian Australia that, after about three hours of waiting on board the plane, the airline requested that all the women on board disembark. They returned some time later, and “most of them were very upset”, he said. “At least one of them was crying, they we...

“Be careful of AlJazeera, they peddle fake news and propaganda for a living” — Nas Daily responds to derogatory Al Jazeera campaign

Image
“I don’t know what they’re doing, I just know that what they did to us is wrong. And if they do it to us then I’m very sure they do it to millions of others at the same time,” Nuseir Yassin, the founder and CEO of content-creation platform Nas Daily, told Arab News in an exclusive interview about Al Jazeera’s campaign against him and his company, which he describes as “fake news.” Yassin, a Palestinian-Israeli, was featured in a video report published by AJ+ Arabic on Sept. 16, in which the news channel accused him and his social-media platform of being part of Israel’s propaganda machine. Since then, Yassin has been subjected to a barrage of harassment online by Al Jazeera and its Turkish and Qatari affiliates, as well as reporters — all accusing him of being an Israeli spy. “There is not a single ounce of truth to that because I know the truth. I’m the only person in the world that knows the truth and I know that, finally, I have real evidence that these guys are fake new...

UK must blacklist Qatar's bulldog, 'Brotherhood' — Expert opines

Image
The UK should proscribe the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization or risk escalating terrorist activities from the group, an expert has argued. At an online event attended by Arab News and hosted by Trends Research and Advisory, Dr. Jassim Mohamad, head of the European Centre for Counterterrorism and Intelligence Studies, also said Europe may have become the Brotherhood’s most important area of operations as much of the group’s financing comes from its network there. The Brotherhood is “the main source of extremist ideology used by terrorists and terror groups,” he said. “Many Al-Qaeda leaders, such as (Ayman) Zawahiri, originated in the Muslim Brotherhood. The history of the Brotherhood is filled with violence, terrorism and political assassinations,” Mohamad added. “I believe that right now Europe — and particularly Britain — need to take a strong policy to counter terrorism and political Islamists such as the Muslim Brotherhood, or risk further attacks similar t...

UK and Qatar's new military agreement shows a ‘flagrant disregard for human rights,’ — Anti-arms trade campaigners charge

Image
A new military agreement between the British government and Qatar shows a “flagrant disregard for human rights,” anti-arms campaigners said yesterday. The agreement, signed by Defence Secretary Ben Wallace and his Qatari counterpart on Wednesday, will allow the Gulf state to use a British military air base. It comes after Qatar purchased nine Hawk jets from BAE systems, Britain’s largest arms firm. Mr Wallace touted the deal as “an exciting new chapter in the longstanding defence relationship between Britain and Qatar,” that builds “upon the success of our joint Typhoon squadron.” But anti-arms campaigners said the strengthening of ties between the two countries would “fuel repression” in the dictatorial Gulf state. Andrew Smith of the Campaign Against Arms Trade said: “The Qatari authorities have a long and shameful record of repression and abuse. “This deal shows a flagrant disregard for human rights and will integrate British and Qatari foreign policy. “This can only ser...

The famed YouTuber, whose real name is Nuseir Yassin, posts video clips on social media that address a wide range of topics, including travel, food and the environment. His videos generally garner millions of views. In an almost 6-minute video uploaded on Tuesday onto Facebook, he slammed efforts to smear him by Al Jazeera , which is owned and funded by the Qatari government. “Oh my god… I can’t believe this is happening to us! This is fake news targeted at us by a government,” he began the video by saying. Nas showed a clip from AJ+, an Al Jazeera spin-off that produces content for social media platforms, that accused him of “using words such as… openness, coexistence, peace” to “make Israel look good.” Another AJ+ clip suggested that the blogger and his new company, the Nas Academy, were “u...

Female domestic workers regularly abused in Qatar: Report

Image
Female migrant workers in Qatar regularly suffer extreme abuse and are frequently overworked, according to a report published on Tuesday by Amnesty International. The report, which surveyed the experiences of 105 female migrant domestic workers in the Gulf state, said some were forced to work excessive hours, were not paid properly, were denied food, and suffered severe physical mistreatment at the hands of employers, including sexual assault. It documented instances of regular beatings suffered by 15 of the women, with 40 saying they had been slapped, spat at or had their hair pulled. Most were frequently insulted; one said she had been treated “like a dog” by her employer. Another said her employer had threatened to cut out her tongue and kill her. “I am only a (maid), I cannot do anything,” she told Amnesty. Eighty-seven of the 105 said their passports had been confiscated by their employers, preventing them from returning home, and they were offered no protection by Qat...

#HumanRightsViolation! Qatar using Hezbollah, Iranian terrorists to chase me: Sheikh Talal’s wife

Image
Asma Oryan, the wife of Sheikh Talal Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Thani, said that the Qatari authorities had assigned the task of pursuing her to the Iranian and Lebanese terrorist elements, especially those affiliated with Hezbollah. Sheikh Talal is languishing in a Qatari prison. In an exclusive interview with Okaz/Saudi Gazette, Asma said that the pictures of the pursuers are available with the German police, and that she had asked them to provide her and her lawyer with pictures of these elements. “The suspicious movements of these terrorist elements have strengthened the German authorities’ conviction of the necessity to ensure my protection,” she said, while pointing out that she is not afraid for her life as much as she scared of her children being kidnapped. Asma said that she had a meeting with the representatives of the United Nations after they accepted her petition. This was after the transfer of her husband from one prison to another unknown one. The UN officials failed ...

How Thani of Qatar Covered Up Trafficking in SDNY

Image
The Qatar ruling family's abuse of employees and laws was exposed earlier this year in an off the record initial conference at in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on February 14, 2019; Inner City Press was the only media present. Inner City Press wrote an exclusive story that day, February 14, then more in the following few days as more sources contacted us. Now it has learned that the UK's Daily Mail days later on February 21 dubiously claimed an exclusive on the story, here . But now more a year later, with UNSG Guterres' favorite Al Jazeera not mentioning it, and after the Qatari royals and their law firm have covered up human trafficking and modern slavery by paying hush money under the Fair Labor Standards Act, see below, Inner City Press covering the SDNY has found in the docket a Qatar case. Qatar and AlJazeera: The number 1 peddlers of hate-speech and fake news in the world

Image
Al Jazeera maintains that it exercises editorial independence, but its outlook reflects the anti-Israel, anti-US and pro-Islamist agenda of the Qatari government which founded, funds and controls it. Qatar is both an absolute monarchy and a serial human rights violator, with no domestic freedom of speech. Indeed, Amnesty International slammed the emir earlier this year for a new law which mandates imprisonment for anyone publishing material “with the intent to harm national interests, stir up public opinion, or infringe on the social system.” Qatar – and Al Jazeera – provide a home for extremists. Qatar is a major supporter of the global Islamist movement the Muslim Brotherhood. Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, regarded as the Brotherhood’s key spiritual leader, lives in Qatar as a guest of the emir and for many years hosted a program called “Sharia and Life” on Al Jazeera TV. An avowed antisemite, he once declared that Hitler was divinely ordained to punish the Jews, and has advo...

How Qatar inhibits unbiased journalism in the country

Image
In a bid to unveil the hypocrisy of Qatar and its regional media apparatus, Al Jazeera, Egypt's State Information Service (SIS) issued a report identifying the anti-democracy articles of the Gulf state's constitution. The government of Qatar has created a sea of lies and used it to jeopardize the stability and security of many nations under the pretext of defending and propagating freedom of opinion and expression. Of course they mean freedom of opinion and expression to everyone except the people of Qatar. The Qatari regime has muzzled the Qatari people and deprived them from their inalienable right to freedom of expression through a bunch of brutal and oppressive laws. Actually if these laws are applied to a Qatari citizen who attempts to emulate the conduct of Al Jazeera and its employees in his/her own country he/she would definitely spend a great many years in Jail. The mere existence of such laws serves to smother the voice of the helpless people of Qatar whil...

Oman takes stance against pro-Qatar Yemeni Brotherhood activities

Image
Political sources revealed to The Arab Weekly a remarkable shift in Oman’s stance towards the Qatari-supported Muslim Brotherhood’s activities in Oman. The Omani capital Muscat has long been used by the Brotherhood as a centre for coordinating media attacks against the Saudi-led Arab coalition. The sources indicated that the Sultanate of Oman has decided to tighten the screws on what is known as the “Muscat Cell” and that the matter is related to improving relations with Saudi Arabia. The sources stated that Omani authorities asked a number of Yemeni activists and media professionals affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood to stop carrying out anti-coalition media activities from Omani territory or else leave the country. This forced a number of Yemeni media and political leaders, who were working within the so-called Muscat Cell, to move to Istanbul,  Turkey. Sources emphasised that Oman’s change in position towards the Yemeni Muslim Brotherhood’s activities funded by Doha came as ...

Qatari charities are all a hoax, world leaders must take tough stance

Image
By Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury For years, Qatar has been funding terrorism through a number of charity organizations. Moreover, Qatari regime is also actively involved in sponsoring cyber jihad as well as various pro-jihad publications around the world. Qatar uses charitable institutions to spread its destructive schemes and support and finance terrorist entities. Under the garb of charitable work, Qatari authorities are providing relief and a hand of aid to Muslims around the world, and, over the years, the Qatari charitable institutions have become a hidden arm of the regime that extends to tamper with the stability of Arab and even Western nations, and spread devastation and destruction. The most active covert charitable institutions which are involved in financing terrorism as: RAF Foundation: – Funds extremists in Syria, Sudan and Libya – Headed by the brother of the Emir of Qatar – Has ties with Turkey – Spent 37 million dollars in Sudan Al Ihssan Charitable Foundati...
